In 2022, when presented with ballot measures that would revise the City charter to embed racial justice and equity in all City government functions, New Yorkers voted overwhelmingly to mandate that City government see them and their financial struggles by calculating the true cost of living annually. They understood that meaningful solutions to the cost-of-living crisis are only possible when government officials can see and understand the myriad ways people of all ages and family types struggle to live across their city.
This week, the City of New York became the first municipality in the country to establish a True Cost of Living measure and publish a related report.
Join us for a webinar bringing together leaders across the City to explore how we can use the racial equity plan and true cost of living measure to inform policy, strengthen programs, and advance economic security for all.
This is more than a measure and report — it is a critical tool for ensuring that New Yorkers not only survive, but thrive.
