What Westchester Needs to Know about SEQRA Reform

Dear New York Neighbors coalition and SEQRA reform allies,

Welcome Home Westchester is hosting a webinar panel this Thursday 6/11 at 4 pm with RPA, Open New York and the Building and Realty Institute of the Hudson Valley to discuss what was included in the recent reforms to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and how these changes to environmental review will impact housing and other infrastructure proposals in Westchester County and across the state.

This webinar is specifically focused on Westchester, but everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a discussion of the local statewide impacts of the policy changes as well as how statewide advocacy helped to secure these changes in the New York State budget.

You can RSVP to the webinar here.

Hope to see you there,

Israel at a Crossroads with Rabbi Rick Jacobs, President, Union for Reform Judaism—Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY

Rabbi Rick Jacobs is speaking to the Albany/Capital Region community, and we highly encourage you to register NOW and join us for this important presentation.

Background:

Almost a year ago, members of Congregation Berith Sholom's Israel-Palestine Conversation Chevra (which includes members of J Street Albany/Capital District) met with the leadership of our local Jewish Federation of Northeastern NY to discuss ways to support Federation in presenting a wider range of voices about Israel. Follow-on Chevra and Federation discussions led to the development of this presentation that is now sponsored by the Federation and all area Reform Congregations! We are grateful to the Jewish Federation for their work to bring this to fruition.

NYC's Official True Cost of Living

This week, the City of New York became the first municipality in the country to establish a True Cost of Living measure and publish a related report.

Join us for a webinar bringing together leaders across the City to explore how we can use the racial equity plan and true cost of living measure to inform policy, strengthen programs, and advance economic security for all.

This is more than a measure and report — it is a critical tool for ensuring that New Yorkers not only survive, but thrive.
